Civil War History and Paranormal Phenomena

ABOUT THE BOOK

Gettysburg Mysteries and More: Unexplained Personal Paranormal Phenomena documents first-hand experiences of author and newspaper reporter Bruce E. Mowday. Bruce spent hours and days exploring Gettysburg as he research his three books on the battle. His travels took him throughout the United States and Europe. His extensive traveling and recording conversations with friends and acquaintances are included in the book. The book’s contents come from notes made during his explorations and interviews.

This book is not about ghost stories. This book is not a compilation of tall tales designed to frighten friends and family around a campfire. This book is about Bruce’s personal experiences with unexplained paranormal phenomena. No embellishments are included in the pages. Bruce attacked the subject as he did his investigative newspaper articles.

Most of Bruce’s encounters took place in Gettysburg but they were not limited to the small Pennsylvania town that played an essential part in the American Civil War. A frightening experience took place in the Nazi death camp at Dachau, outside of Munich, Germany. Another Civil War battlefield, Antietam, was the scene of several unusual happenings.

As the unexplained happenings took place, he made notes of my experiences with the idea of writing some type of article, or book.

“Ghost Hunters” television show interviewed Bruce for a segment connected with the American Revolution Battle of Brandywine. He’s conversed with psychics, including Nanette Morrison and Jane Segal.

The final shove to complete this book came on July 3, 2024, the anniversary of Pickett’s Charge. As Bruce completed a book signing at Gettysburg Heritage Enterprises in connection with his book, Pickett’s Charge: The Untold Story, Chris Rowand, marketing maven of Gettysburg Heritage Enterprises and Ghostly Images of Gettysburg, suggested he write a ghost book and then he could do additional talks and signings concerning Gettysburg.

Bruce told Chris he didn’t write fiction, but he did have information about real-life experiences. The result is Gettysburg Mysteries and More: Unexplained Personal Paranormal Phenomena. This book is more frightening than fictional ghost stories – this work contains first-hand experiences.
