Short stories and reminiscences from 11 of the 32 countries in which the author worked in public health in a career which lasted more than 50 years.  Besides work and personalities, challenges, solutions, food and fishing experiences are described.  Lessons can be surmised.  Countries which are represented in the stories and snippets include Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Burma, Kenya, Vietnam, Madagascar, Botswana, Ghana, Mozambique, Guyana and Lebanon.

 

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Robert Miller, Dr. P.H., has 50+ years of experience in the field of international health, family planning, sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS having worked in 32 countries in Africa, Asia, Arab Region, Latin America and the Caribbean. His areas of expertise, supported by extensive publications and reports, include national planning for HIV/AIDS, family planning, reproductive health and community health programming, evaluation of programs, designing operations research (OR) projects, synthesizing and disseminating OR results, measuring quality of care, health education, and training at all levels — from village level to graduate degree programs. He also has extensive experience with the management of large research and technical assistance projects with USAID, The World Bank, UN Organizations (UNFPA, WHO, UN Women) and major Foundations. This collection contains thoughts, personalities, stories lessons collected over that experience.
